It isn't difficult to find out costumers that spends most then 12 hours to execute a single day workload (half day), not difficult also, to find out time upon this presented scenario, mainly when exists others events that worse this situation, like the bulk increase, for example (Expected or not) or weekly or monthly billed, etc.
We know that the CPU used are allied directly to the applications code, and, the MIP's are resulting of the CPU consumption, and finally, the Mainframe Platform costs (Hardware and Software) are crossed with MIP's(Processing Capacity.
So, Where are the opportunities???
Staff reduction? Replace master peace solution? Products/Services contracts renegotiation?
"Most large mainframe users will continue to grow their installed MIPS at a compound annual growth rate between 15% and 20% through 2009" [Gartner, "IBM's Mainframe Endurance"]
"More mainframe MIPS have been sold in the last four years than in the prior 38 years combined". [IBM]
"Installed MIPS soared from 1.8 million in 1997 to 11 million in 2007 (a 6.1-fold increase)". [IBM]
